How do I heat a Wheatie?
Wheaties may be quickly heated in a microwave, beside at least a ½ cup of cold water, or in a conventional oven in a dish with a lid. Each product comes complete with instructions.
How long does a Wheatie stay warm?
The time of warmth for each item will vary due to the amount of wheat. The rule is “the more wheat – the longer the heat”. Heat retention is also greater when the product is used covered e.g. in bed or under a rug or towel.
Can I use the Wheaties cold?
By placing the item in a clean plastic bag and leaving it in the freezer, the result will be a gentle free flow, non ‘icey’, non ‘drippy’, dry cold wheat pack. These are nice to use for headaches, toothache, burns, bruises, sprains and hot flushes as it is comfortable against the skin. A cold wheat pack is especially good for when the children hurt themselves and saves using the frozen peas!
How long will a Wheatie last?
If treated correctly, and heated or frozen according to the instructions, your Wheatie will last for years. (Always use at least a ½ cup of cold water beside it during the microwave heating).
Can I wash the Wheatie?
Washing your wheat pack is not recommended, as it will damage the wheat. The microwave sterilizes the item.
How do I know when it is time to replace the Wheatie?
If your Wheatie begins to smell ‘cooked’ or unpleasant when heated, or takes longer and longer to heat, it has reached its ‘use by date’. Further heating could be dangerous. For a wheat pack past its best, use it as a cold pack in the freezer, or destroy it.
Under normal and correct conditions your Wheatie should last for years.
